2. Holocene – Located in the the old Best Auto Parts warehouse on the corner of SE 10th and Morrison, Holocene is a 5000sf, 325-person venue with soaring white walls, 25′ ceilings, spindly bow-trusses, and a metric ton of hand-built modern detail. Holocene’s two main rooms are each equipped with a superb sound system, video projection, lights, and performance area. A wall between the two will also fold agreeably out of the way, making one large space.

3. Beauty Bar – The Rose City’s hippest movers-and-shakers can now mix-and-mingle over martinis-and-manicures in the dual level BBPDX housed in a national registered building dating to 1872. Owner Paul Hinojos, (from the bands At the Drive-In & The Mars Volta),salvaged the vintage dryer chairs and furnishings from the Paul Marie Salon in Silver Spring, Maryland.

5. Clyde Common – Clyde Common is exactly what I love in a lively, hip restaurant with a fully stocked bar. When the drink menu is almost as long as the food menu, I know I am in the right place. The choices were endless and every sip I had was perfectly mixed.
